As reported by Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider, defensemen Jake Muzzin and Matt Greene have both been listed as day-to-day, which should ease some of the tension felt by fans since Sunday night.
En route to their shootout win in Denver on Sunday, the Kings received a bit of a scare when Muzzin and Greene were both the recipients of the all-too-vague “upper-body” injury. With the latter was able to remain on the bench for the remainder of the game, the former had left the game after just the first period.
The play in question involving Muzzin was more worrisome given that he took a hard hit into the boards from Colorado‘s Blake Comeau. However, it does not appear that either his nor Greene’s injury is severe. This is especially good — nay, relieving — news considering that the silver-and-black can ill afford to lose any defensemen at this juncture.
The Kings have two more preseason games — the latter coming next Saturday in Las Vegas at their annual Frozen Fury exhibition — before kicking off the regular season at STAPLES Center on Oct. 7. The team is hoping both Muzzin and Greene will be ready to go that evening when they play host to the San Jose Sharks.
