Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 16 vs. NY Islanders, November 12, 2015, 7:30pm PST
After falling to Arizona on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Kings will hope to rebound on Thursday when they play host to the 8-5-3 New York Islanders in the first of two meetings this season. Last season, the Kings went 1-0-1 against the Isles and will hope for similar success this year.
The Kings continue their five-game homestand on Thursday as they look for a split before Saturday’s finale. The Islanders, however, are coming off a win on Tuesday in San Jose with ex-Sharks netminder Thomas Greiss making 34 saves en route to the victory. However, Jaroslav Halak is expected to get the call in goal against the Kings.
John Tavares leads the Isles in scoring this season with seven goals and 13 points, but while the Kings will need to contain him, they will have their hands full with quite a few of his teammates. Kyle Okposo (4G, 7A) and Frans Nielsen (5G, 5A) can also do a fair bit of damage as they round out the club’s top-three in scoring, so the silver-and-black will have their work cut out for them.
For the Kings, defenseman Jamie McBain has two assists in his last three games. In fact, the Kings are 22-9-4 when McBain is in the lineup dating back to when he signed with the club last November.
Captain Dustin Brown, coming off his first goal of the season, will hope to continue his hard-working ways as will Tyler Toffoli, who netted his team-leading 10th goal on Tuesday.
The Kings and their fans will hope for a return to the win column, but we will see if the silver-and-black will have what it takes to do so on Thursday night.
Enjoy the game!
