Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 18 @ Philadelphia, November 17, 2015, 4pm PST
After winning the final two games of their homestand, the Los Angeles Kings look to continue their winning ways as they kick off a five-game eastern road trip. Their road swings begins on Tuesday as they will pay a visit to WellsFargo Center to take on the 6-8-3 Philadelphia Flyers for the first of two meetings this season.
Despite going 2-6-2 in their last 10, the Flyers enter Tuesday’s contest with plenty of momentum against a Kings team they had beaten twice last season. Former King Brayden Schenn scored the OT-winner against his former team in Philadelphia on Oct. 28 last year while another ex-King, Wayne Simmonds, scored en route to a Flyers win in Los Angeles on Dec. 7. Speaking of Schenn, he was a healthy scratch on Saturday but at practice on Monday, he was on the top line. Come Tuesday, it will be interesting to see where Schenn ends up, assuming he will be playing.
To get his team acclimated with the eastern time zone, Kings head coach Darryl Sutter had his team practice at 8:30am local time on Monday before flying east. Fans of the silver-and-black are hoping this tactic will work.
Defenseman Matt Greene did not make the trip with the Kings. The big man has been sidelined since Oct. 13 with an upper-body injury but has been practicing as of late. Sticking with the injury front, forward Dwight King is closer to returning to the Los Angeles lineup as he will hope to be back on the ice by the end of the month. King has yet to play this season after suffering a broken foot during his club’s final preseason game back on Oct. 3.
Jonathan Quick played both games against the Flyers last season where he allowed a total of five goals on 59 shots. For the Flyers, Steve Mason played in Los Angeles on Dec. 7 where he made 37 saves en route to his team’s victory.
While the Flyers look to continue their recent dominance against the silver-and-black, the Kings will hope to start their road swing on a high note while extending their win streak in the process.
Enjoy the game!
