Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 19 @ Detroit, November 20, 2015, 4:30pm PST

After a thrilling come-from-behind win on Tuesday in Philadelphia to kick off their road trip, the Los Angeles Kings travel to the Motor City where they will pay a visit to the 9-8-2 Detroit Red Wings.

Last season, the Kings and Wings split their two-game schedule but it was the road team winning on both occasions with Detroit scoring three first-period goals en route to a 5-2 win on Halloween night, 2014. The Kings know that they will be in tough as they put their three-game winning streak on the line in an arena they have not won in since March 9, 2011.

On that night, the Kings came away with a 2-1 victory with the winning goal scored by Alexei Ponikarovsky — remember him? — but have since lost their next five at Joe Louis Arena. Still, the Kings are 5-1-0 away from STAPLES Center this season, so they will hope that mark supersedes their recent record in Detroit.

As great as the Kings have been on the road thus far, they are even better when Milan Lucic scores. The silver-and-black are 6-0-0 when No. 17 lights the lamp, and he has done just that in three of his last four games. On the defensive side of things, Alec Martinez has been a workhorse. So far this season, Martinez has regularly led his club in blocked shots while making a number of key defensive stops. The most recent example was in overtime on Tuesday when he rushed back to break up a Flyers’ breakaway attempt, keeping the score tied.

In goal, Jonathan Quick is expected to get the call for Los Angeles again. The last time the Kings and Wings met, Quick made 20 saves as he shut out Detroit in a slim 1-0 victory. But the Kings will be introduced to a new netminder on Friday as Petr Mrazek will be expected to get the call for the Red Wings.

Veteran Brad Richards, who had missed nearly a month with a back injury, should be expected to return on Friday for the Red Wings.

It’s always fun when these two clubs get together and Friday night should not be any exception.

Enjoy the game!
