Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 20 @ Carolina, November 22, 2015, 10am PST
After suffering their first loss of their road trip on Friday night, the Los Angeles Kings hope a trip to Raleigh will help them start a new winning streak. On Sunday, the Kings will look to sweep their two-game season-series against the 6-10-3 Carolina Hurricanes.
The Kings and Canes met at STAPLES Center on Oct. 23 when the home team won by a 3-0 count. Jonathan Quick was solid that night, stopping all 40 Carolina shots to earn his first shutout of the season. Tyler Toffoli scored twice en route to said win — his first tallies in four career games against the Canes — while the other goal-scorer, Anze Kopitar, enters Sunday’s game with four goals and eight points in 10 career games against Carolina.
While the Hurricanes are currently in last place in the Eastern Conference, the Kings have not played their best hockey this season when facing off against non-playoff teams. While they did blank Carolina last month, it was the Canes who dominated the tempo of the game against Los Angeles. The silver-and-black may not be so lucky this time.
Defenseman Justin Faulk has led the way in scoring for the Hurricanes thus far with six goals and 13 points. Captain Eric Staal can also provide some damage as he has five goals and 12 points thus far.
It’s going to be an especially early game for the silver-and-black. For fans on the West Coast, they will need to wake up at 10am to watch the game. For a team who has struggled in matinee games in recent years, the Kings will hope to change their luck this time.
Both clubs are coming off Friday-night losses — Kings in Detroit; Canes at home vs. Toronto in overtime — so it’s safe to say that both will be looking to get back in the win column. Which team will prevail? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Enjoy the game!
