Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 41 vs. St. Louis, January 9, 2016, 7:30pm PST
After getting back in the win column on Thursday, the Los Angeles Kings will aim to start a new winning streak as they close out the first half of the regular season against the 23-14-6 St. Louis Blues in what is the second of three meetings between the two clubs this season.
Saturday marks the only time this season the Blues visit STAPLES Center as they hope to get back on the winning track one night after losing in Anaheim in overtime. Overall, the Blues are winless in three but have earned regulation points in each of those games. They are led by Vladimir Tarasenko who leads the club with 43 points and the entire league with 24 goals. Alex Steen and Kevin Shattenkirk round out the top-three in scoring for the Blues with 37 and 25 points respectively. But as offensively-charged as they have been thus far, the Blues have yet to score against the Kings this season.
In their only meeting to date (Nov. 3), the Kings beat St. Louis by a 3-0 count at Scottrade Center with Jhonas Enroth stopping all 24 shots to earn his first shutout as a King. Also in said win, Jeff Carter and Tanner Pearson each had a goal and an assist.
Vincent Lecavalier and Luke Schenn are each coming off their Los Angeles debuts with the former notching an assist against Toronto on Thursday. Jeff Carter, who returned to the lineup on Thursday after missing five games with an upper-body injury, scored the game-winner and will hope to create more luck on Saturday.
With their win on Thursday, the Kings improved to 54 points which ties them for the best first-half start in franchise history. Just a regulation point on Saturday will give the 2015-16 version of the silver-and-black the record. However, the Kings will be looking for more than that.
We will see if they can get it.
Enjoy the game!
