After getting shut out on home ice by Minnesota, the Los Angeles Kings hit the road this weekend for back-to-back games. The fun begins on Saturday night at Gila River Arena when they take on the 22-19-5 Arizona Coyotes. This will be the fourth of five meetings between the Pacific rivals this season.
So far in this season series, the road team in undefeated. The Coyotes won the first two meetings in Los Angeles by scores of 4-1 and 3-2 respectively while the Kings won in the desert in overtime by a 4-3 count on Dec. 26. Anze Kopitar scored the OT-winner — one of three for No. 11 on the year.

For the Kings, Tyler Toffoli and Drew Doughty have led the way in the season series. Toffoli has two goals and one assist while Doughty has a goal and two assists thus far.
Saturday will mark the final installment of a seven-game homestand as they look to get back into a playoff spot. Though, while they do sit on the outside looking in, the Desert Dogs enter Saturday’s contest just two points behind San Jose and Vancouver for second in the division. They also hope to halt their three-game losing skid.
The Kings, despite losing on Thursday, hold a 10-point lead in the Pacific and will hope to extend their lead while garnering as much momentum as they can entering the All-Star break.
It’s always fun when the Kings and Coyotes meet and Saturday should not be an exception.
Enjoy the game!
