Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 51 vs. Anaheim, February 4, 2016, 7pm PST

Before they embark on their longest road trip of the season, the Los Angeles Kings will play host to the suddenly-formidable 23-18-7 Anaheim Ducks in the second of five meetings between the SoCal rivals, and the first of third at STAPLES Center this season.

The Ducks were infamous for their slow start to the year but they have suddenly found their groove as they enter Thursday’s matchup winners of four-straight and seven of their last nine. The Kings know they must make the most of this contest before heading east. Among others, the Kings need to find a way to contain forward Rickard Rakell, who has three goals and two assists in his last five.

The Ducks, though, will have their hands full as well as they need to find a way to slow down four different Kings riding three-game point streaks. Anze Kopitar, Vincent Lecavalier, Drew Doughty and Jake Muzzin are all riding high with said streaks.

On Tuesday night in Arizona, the Kings scored three power-play goals en route to a 6-2 victory. The Ducks, however, boast a very impressive 89.8 per cent on the penalty kill. So, if the Kings are looking to duplicate that success on Thursday, they will need to find a way to solve Anaheim’s dominance when a man short.

The Kings enter Thursday’s game with a nine-point lead in the Pacific while the Ducks enter in third place in the division. The Freeway Faceoff suddenly became that much more entertaining.

Enjoy the game!
