Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 57 @ St. Louis, February 18, 2016, 5pm PST
Coming off losses in their last two outings, the Los Angeles Kings look to right the ship as they visit the Gateway City to take on the 33-17-9 St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
This will be the third and final meeting between the Kings and Blues this season. The clubs split the first two matchups with each team winning on the road. The last time the silver-and-black were in St. Louis was back on Nov. 3 when Jhonas Enroth earned his first shutout as a King in a 3-0 victory. The Blues, though, defeated Los Angeles in the shootout by a 2-1 count on Jan. 9.
In any case, the Blues are nonetheless impressive on home ice this season as they boast an 18-9-4 record at Scottrade Center. But the Kings, despite losing three of five on their current road trip, have 18 wins away from STAPLES Center this season: the third-most road victories behind only Boston and Washington.
After their nine-goal output in Boston last week, the Kings have had trouble scoring and going up against the Blues’ duo in goal will not make it any easier on them.
Jake Allen and Brian Elliott have split the goaltending duties right down the middle this season and both have been great. Allen is 18-10-3 with a 2.17 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and five shutouts. Elliott is boasting a 15-7-6 record with a 2.03 GAA, .933 save percentage and one shutout. Whoever the Blues start in goal on Thursday will prove to be a tough test for the Kings.
Both clubs look to make the most out of this rubber match but only the hungriest will prevail.
Enjoy the game!
