Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 62 @ Anaheim, February 28, 2016, 6pm PST
It didn’t seem like too long ago when the Anaheim Ducks (33-19-8) were the NHL‘s biggest disappointment this season. All of a sudden, they are the league’s hottest team as they are an incredible 14-1-1 in their last 16 and showing no signs of slowing down. One team looking to slow down the Ducks, however, is their crosstown rivals as on Sunday, the Los Angeles Kings pay a visit to the Honda Center in another installment of the Freeway Faceoff.
Los Angeles’s once-comfortable lead in the Pacific Division is down to just four points as the Ducks, winners of seven straight, look to close the gap even further. This will be the the third of five meetings between the Kings and Ducks with both clubs splitting the first two. In the first two, the road team won each time so the silver-and-black will be looking to continue that trend.
For the Ducks, John Gibson will get the call in goal after Frederik Andersen guided his club to victory in their last outing: a 1-0 win over the Sabres on Wednesday. But as hot as the Ducks are right now, the Kings aren’t exactly pushovers themselves as they have generated some much-needed momentum. They enter Sunday’s tilt having won four-in-a-row.
The Kings’ most recent victory game on Saturday night at STAPLES Center where they blanked the Sabres by a 2-0 count. However, despite Jhonas Enroth‘s flawless 21-save performance, the Kings will be turning to Jonathan Quick in goal for Sunday and why not? In his last three games, Quick has gone 3-0-0 with a 0.99 goals-against average while posting a .964 save percentage.
Quick and the Kings will be expected to bring their A-game as will the high-flying Ducks. This one has all the makings for a classic confrontation.
Enjoy the game!
