Los Angeles Kings 2015-16 Regular Season:
Game 66 vs. Washington, March 9, 2016, 7:30pm PST

After a convincing win on Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings will look to make the race in the Pacific Division that much more interesting as they play host to the 49-13-7 Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. This will be the second and final meeting between the two clubs this season with the Caps winning 3-1 in D.C. on Feb. 16.

While they are hosting the league’s best team, Wednesday night carries plenty of sentimental importance for the silver-and-black as they welcome back two key pieces to the club’s two Stanley Cup victories. Both Justin Williams and Mike Richards will be making their returns to Los Angeles for the first time since leaving. Williams signed a two-year deal with the Caps in July while Richards signed as a free agent in January.

The Caps, though, are celebrating a franchise-best year. They have already reached the 100-point plateau and boast an incredible 23-7-2 road record. In addition, they are coming off snapping Anaheim’s historic winning streak and are 7-3-0 in their last 10.

For the Kings, they may not need to have the same offensive explosion they had on Monday but they need to be smart. That means playing a solid defensive game while, most importantly, staying out of the penalty box — something that has slowed them down in recent weeks.

This one promises to be a great battle — a clash of the titans, if you will — and we will see which side comes out on top.

Enjoy the game!
